Defusing of Difficult Personalities

 

Dealing with the aggressive personality

This type of personality is intimidating, hostile and loves to threaten people.

What to do.

Listen to every detail the person has to say. Avoid arguments and be formal, calling the person by name. Be clear and concise with your words and actions. If you are not sure do not offer any opinions. Remember that this person is aggressive and defensive. This is not your normal type of personality that you can have an easy, relaxed, intellectual opinionated conversation.

Dealing with an undermining individual

This person takes great pride in criticizing and demeaning others and is sarcastic and not to be trusted. 

What to do.

be a good listener and do overreact. Choose your words carefully and maintain a clam but clear voice. keep in mind that this individual thrives on picking up on your mistakes.

Dealing with the unresponsive person

This type of personality is difficult to talk to and never reveals there thinking.

What to do.

Start by asking open ended questions to force the individual to answer with a descriptive explanation. Stay calm and quit and listen intently. Be patient and friendly and give praise when applicable.

Dealing with the egotist

This personality believes they know it all. They feel and act superior to everyone else. They have a high inferiority complex and over compensate when in public to look tough and confident.
